My name is Angela Maybee. I have a wonderful husband Brad and four fantastic children Tanner 15, Blake 13, Alexa 12, and Bryce 10. With our family we are busy between sports, family activities, and school. I teach 3rd Grade Special Education at Hayward Elementary in Nebraska City. This is my second year teaching after graduating from Peru State College with a Bachelors in Special Education and Elementary Education.
I have begun using technology in my classroom since being in the school district. I use the mimio pad daily, ipod when applicable, and I use the overhead mimio projector daily. I have used a smart board but don't have access to one at the district I am in now. At school I use a Mac, but at home I use a PC. I currently use Microsoft Office 2007. However, with my husband having multiple businesses we are always upgrading.
I've always wanted to continue my education. I feel that by pursuing my masters at Peru State College I will be more apt to become a master teacher. I hope to gain knowledge that will help me to be a great role model and leader for my students. I plan to continue my education even after my masters. I would like to take more classes on behaviors.
Welcome to class! I know that you must be juggling a lot with four kids, working full time, and pursuing your degree. I hope you enjoy the course and can find immediate uses for what you are learning.:-)
ReplyDeleteI love Nebraska City! I spent lots of time there picniking at the park by Arbor Lodge and at the orchard's as a kid. I have carried on the family tradition with my own kids.
ReplyDeleteHi Angela. Sounds like you are definitely a busy lady. How do you like using an ipod in the classroom? Our second grade teachers got a grant so there is an ipod for each child. They love it! Our principal's goal is for all grade levels to get them soon. I just began using technology in my classroom since being in my district as well. The first district I was in had very limited technology available. I felt so behind when I first got hired in my district, but I have learned so much since being here. Good to get to know you a little better!
ReplyDeleteDo many of your students have ipods? Do they have them through the school or home? How do you use ipods in your classroom?
ReplyDeleteSome of our classmates have gone through Peru for undergrad degrees. It's really neat that so many went for undergrad and now graduate degrees. Must be something about Peru! I definitely lived in a bubble growing up, but I had never heard of Peru State until I was teaching!
Yes I agree that this program through Peru State will help us become Master Teachers. I really feel that I have learned a lot so far and have implemented many new ideas into my classroom since we started last summer. Good luck as we approach the end! :)
